Life & work
A duo, a singer and a changing lineup
House No.4’s biography traces Jetpack to Mohammad Shariat and Majid Heidari’s founding duo in 2017. Shariat’s project page likewise describes Arian Shariat, also known as Rian, joining later as singer and songwriter. Mohammad’s keyboards and production, Heidari’s guitar and Arian’s voice formed the core, with drums and electronic percussion added for live shows.6105
The account accompanying their Cozy Corner interview instead gives Arian a founding role. The early Bandcamp biography also names four musicians, while Rian’s current site describes a trio; neither dates a lineup change.11510
From Persian singles to English songs
The band’s own biography describes two Persian singles before a move into English, identifying Forbidden Love as its first English song. Shab and the original Nemigam Nemishe remain in its early catalogue.51213
The six-track Joystick EP, released on 1 May 2019, brings Forbidden Love, Robot Song and Never and Ever into a longer collection of the band’s work.514 Jetpack produced the EP itself.5
Between Joystick and Kafi Nist, Jetpack also released Blue as a Girl and Old Days in 2019, followed by Dead Inside in 2020.151617
Kafi Nist: returning to Persian
The collaboration with Sanam Maroufkhani on Noghteh Ha precedes the eight-track Kafi Nist, released in April 2022. After the earlier emphasis on English songs, the album centres Persian lyrics and collaborations with artists working in different styles.18199
Makan Ashgvari joins Nemigam Nemishe, Sharyar Vajanat, and Golsa Khakestar Shod. Golsa wrote the latter’s music and lyrics, with production by Mohammad Shariat.2021 A cassette edition was also offered with a digital copy.22
Ali Eshqi included Kafi Nist among the additional albums recommended in beehype’s Iran selection for 2022. It also appeared in CISM host Siavash Rokni’s personal year-end selection.2324
On record and on stage
HOUSE NO.4’s Gate of Tehran set preserves the band’s contribution to the virtual 2020 festival, whose programme placed Jetpack on 18 December.2526 The Bijar series later brought another view of the band, including a live Kafi Nist and Vajanat with Sharyar.927
On Joone Jaddet, released in April 2025, Arian sings music jointly credited to him and Mohammad, with Heidari’s electric guitar and Mohammad’s production.2829 Mohammad and Arian also discuss the band in Cadence’s two-part interview, continued in its second episode.8
