Life & work
Finding a voice
In a 2006 BBC Persian interview, Yas recalled that his father introduced him to rap by bringing Tupac CDs from Germany.4 He described working to support his family and trying to find time and money for the studio between jobs.4 Speaking of Bam, he said the song drew on his own feelings and scenes he had witnessed.4 The song existed by the time of that interview.
The same interview asked about permission to distribute his songs. Yas said that, after spending two or three years seeking permission without success, he asked the Barbad music company to obtain it.4
Working with AaMin
AaMin recalled that his friendship with Yas began two or three years before CD Ro Beshkan. He said he played guitar and sang on Bam, and dated the release of CD Ro Beshkan to 1385 in the Iranian calendar.5 In his account of their collaboration, AaMin described his own parts as broader statements, leaving Yas room to develop the details.5
Collaborations and later recordings
On Sound of Unity (Sedaye Ettehad), Yas joined Tech N9ne. A YAStunes single is dated February 20, 2014, and Ajam Media Collective included the collaboration in a mixtape of Iranian hip-hop voices that April.678 Strange Music described the video as placing the two rappers in Kansas City, with Tech N9ne delivering the closing chorus in Persian.9
Farbod Arsh became a recurring collaborator in Yas’s later recordings. He is credited as composer of Sarkoob and of Agaah, the latter a collaboration between Yas and Moer released in audio and video versions. Arsh later produced Beem, whose announcement gives May 27, 2022 as its release date.101112
Their work together continued on BAAQ, with Arsh producing and composing. Apple Music lists its 2025 edition as a single 17-minute song; its credits include a scream vocal performance by Haniye Kian.1314

This video features Yas and Tech N9ne trading ferciously-delivered bars amidst the Kansas City landscape.
The song reaches a level of trasncendance when Tech spits the Farsi-language chorus at the end.
